The Marché du Film is delighted to announce the return of Spot The Composer — the dedicated platform designed to connect film music composers with film directors & producers participating in the Festival de Cannes.
Launched in 2020 with the support of SACEM, Spot the Composer is inviting film composers worldwide to apply to our 2025 program, taking place from 16 to 19 May.
Every year, 10 international film music composers are chosen and invited to Cannes to attend exclusive one-to-one meetings, meticulously organized to connect them with film projects at various stages of development or production. This year’s program also includes a case study exploring the world of film scoring as well as a masterclass on film music presented by SACEM).
The 10 selected composers are granted free accreditation to the Marché du Film, a hotel stay in Cannes (from Friday 16 May to Monday 19 May), and a free one-year subscription to DISCO – the music and media industry platform for file storage, organization, sharing, and receiving.

ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS
- Applicants must be established composers with at least ten IMDb credits as the main composer, including at least two feature-length films.
- Composers can attend the STC program twice in total, with a minimum gap of three years between attendances.
- The program will select 10 participants from Europe and North America. However, applicants from other regions may be considered if they can secure a valid visa.
- Applicants must provide a DISCO playlist to validate their submissions (details below on how to access a free 3-month subscription). Choose tracks that best represent your various composition styles. Note that only the first 10 tracks from your playlist will be reviewed by the selection commitee.
- Participants must cover their own travel expenses to and from Cannes. Accommodation from 16 to 19 May (3 nights) and accreditation to the Marché du Film will be provided for the selected composers.
- Selected composers must commit to participate in the entire STC program, including all one-to-one meetings with directors.
- Only the selected composers will be notified directly via e-mail on 28 March 2025 about their selection. The other applicants will not receive any message.
- Selected composers will be featured on the Marché du Film website and the Spot the Composer webpage.
