Synopsis:

When Fiona Clark, a young queer photographer exhibits her photography of the LGBTQI community in 1975, she and her friends face the systemic backlash of an oppressive New Zealand society. Unafraid, Fiona gives the middle finger to the patriarchy and we discover how her documentation and contribution to the queer community has helped transform New Zealand society.

Director’s profile: 

Lula Cucchiara is a queer Latinx artist, creative, film director and photographer. Originally from Argentina, she has called New Zealand home for the past 12 years. Lula is equally adept at exploring challenging issues and lighthearted content, her work has the power to move, influence and entertain. Fascinated and inspired by Fiona Clark’s art and story, she feels driven to document and explore this unique woman and her legacy. Lula Cucchiara comes to Cannes Docs with a fresh outlook on story telling with a queer perspective.
