Brazil, the Marché du Film's 2025 Country of Honour, is proud to be represented in the Festival de Cannes' Official Selection.
The Festival de Cannes has recently unveiled the Official Selection for its 78th edition, taking place from 13–24 May.
The Secret Agent (O Agente Secreto), directed by Kleber Mendonça Filho has been officially selected In Competition for the 2025 edition of the Festival de Cannes. Filmed between Recife and São Paulo, this gripping drama follows a teacher (Wagner Moura) caught in the political turmoil of Brazil’s military dictatorship in 1977.
A powerful testament to the vitality and vision of contemporary Brazilian cinema, this Brazilian-French co-production (MK Productions, Lemming, One Two Films) is also a shining example of cross-border collaboration — a proud moment for both nations, especially during the Brazil-France Season, celebrating 200 years of diplomatic relations between the two countries.
This recognition offers Brazil a unique opportunity to showcase its vibrant audiovisual industry and latest cinematic masterpieces at the Festival de Cannes — and, as our 2025 Country of Honour, through the Marché du Film’s industry programs, key showcases, and networking opportunities.
