🎬 Proyecta Announces 2024 Lineup at Ventana Sur
Proyecta, an initiative jointly organized by Ventana Sur, Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes and San Sebastian Film Festival, is thrilled to announce the lineup of 12 outstanding projects from film directors looking to secure additional funding and new partners for their first or second feature films.
The program will present the projects and bring together industry professionals, including producers, international sales agents, and festival programming heads, in pursuit of fostering co-production between Europe and Latin America.
The seventh edition of Proyecta will take place in-person as part of Ventana Sur’s 16th market edition and will kick off for the first time in Montevideo, Uruguay, with a riveting pitching session by the projects’ producers, followed by other networking events such as one-to-one meetings.
This year’s selection represents a wide diversity of projects from Europe and Latin America. Nine of the selected projects originate from Argentina, Brazil, Colombia, Peru and Uruguay, while three are European with strong ties to Latin America. Two of these European projects have Spanish production involvement, and one, Malestar Tropical (Tropical Malaise) by Jorge Cadena, represents Switzerland and participated in the Europe-Latin America Co-Production Forum at the recent San Sebastián Festival. Additionally, five of the selected projects already have European co-productions, notably with France and Spain.
Proyecta stands as an integral part of Ventana Sur, the leading Latin American film market organized by the Instituto Nacional de Cine y Artes Audiovisuales de Argentina (INCAA), ACAU (Agencia del Cine y el Audiovisual del Uruguay) and the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes. The 2024 edition of Proyecta, co-funded by Creative Europe MEDIA, is slated to run from 2 to 6 December in Montevideo, Uruguay.
The representatives of the selected projects will have the opportunity to compete for various awards. One project will be eligible to participate in next year’s Sørfond Pitching Forum, offering the chance to present to potential Norwegian co-producers (subject to Sørfond’s requirements), with the opportunity to apply for Sørfond grants if a Norwegian co-production is secured.
As a new feature this year, two main producers of the selected projects will be invited to the 2025 San Sebastian Festival. Additionally, the projects will compete for the new Sideral Cinema Award, which includes the pre-acquisition of international rights for one future film, with a guaranteed minimum of 10,000 euros. These awards are further complemented by networking events designed to enhance the international reach of the projects and accelerate their development.
