🎉 Ventana Sur 2024: Montevideo Hosts the 16th Edition
Following a historic decision announced last July, the most important Latin American audiovisual market will be leaving its original heartland of Buenos Aires and moving to Montevideo, Uruguay. The event remains true to its original schedule, and will be held from 2 to 6 December, presenting a programme as comprehensive as ever, with a host of new additions.
You don’t mess with a winning formula, which celebrated its fifteenth year of existence last year. The DNA of Ventana Sur, or ‘Window on the South’, is to bring together the various players in the audiovisual industry to promote the coproduction, financing and international distribution of Latin American content. Since 2008, the event has been organised by the Marché du Film – Festival de Cannes in coordination with Argentina’s National Film and Audiovisual Institute (INCAA) in the Argentinean capital, Buenos Aires. It welcomed up to 4,000 accredited visitors in 2023, including more than 250 buyers and sellers from all five continents. The political and economic upheavals in the porteña city led to the event being moved a little further north, to Montevideo. This year, for the first time the Agencia del Cine y el Audiovisual del Uruguay (ACAU) is joining the event to organise the market in Uruguay.
