Synopsis:

Florian Yuriev is an architect, artist, violin maker, musician, theorist and poet. Now aged 90, he has to master one more occupation: civic activism. One day, he learns that his main architectural work – Kyiv’s UFO building – is under threat of being turned into a shopping mall. Florian decides to strike back.

Director’s profile: 

Oleksiy Radynski is a filmmaker and writer based in Kyiv. His films have been screened at Oberhausen International Short Film Festival, Institute of Contemporary Arts (London), DOK Leipzig, e-flux (New York), S A V V Y Contemporary (Berlin) among other venues, and received awards at Docudays UA, KISFF, Molodist and other film festivals. He gave talks and presentations at Berlinale Forum Expanded, Stroom Den Haag, Museum of Modern Art (New York), Shtab (Bishkek), and Architectural Association (London). He is a participant of Visual Culture Research Center, an initiative for art, knowledge, and politics founded in Kyiv, 2008. Currently, he is a BAK Fellow at basis voor actuele kunst, Utrecht.
